Open Regels

In a world where translating legislation into actionable execution can be a difficult process due to the lack of standardized guidelines, Open Regels stands out as a trailblazing solution. Through the Open Regels Register, this project aims to bridge the gap by providing invaluable insights into government rules and regulations.

Regulations, while necessary for governing various aspects of our lives, frequently lack a consistent framework for their development. When it comes to verifying the accuracy and intent of rules, the lack of standardized rule-writing guidelines can be a significant challenge.
Open Regels steps in as a game changer, providing a comprehensive repository of government rules.

Transparant Charging Station

In the future, the algorithms of the smart city will decide the allocation of public resources. If many electric cars have to be charged, a smart charging algorithm will determine when your vehicle can be charged. And this can make charging your car take longer than planned. How can you be sure that decisions as to who gets priority are taken honestly?

The Incredible Machine and I were entrusted with designing  the Transparent Charging Station to demonstrate how and on what basis the available energy is allocated. This design allows smart cities to communicate their transparency to inhabitants. Through this project I've showcased the increased value of transparency for the user with the final prototype.

Foundation

Each year the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences receives new students. Before they can focus on their education, these students must first settle in and orient themselves in their new school, housing, or even city. However time stops for no one. This results in many students failing to build their own routine or better said foundation to be able to focus on their academic tasks. It might just result in an academic setback, as students are forced to find the time to balance schoolwork with their lifestyle activities, mandated elective classes and other deliverables. As you may imagine, this is the main cause of student stress in the first and second year of higher education.

Foundation is a platform where students learn about stress management. It trains users to become more resilient to high stress levels by giving them better awareness of their own stress levels and fundamental stress-reduction techniques. Additionally, when faced with a challenge, it offers guidance to students through coaching by an expert.

Prysmian

Prysmian Group is a world leader in energy transition enabling technologies. They provide the most comprehensive range of services and know-how in the industry. Every year, the Group produces thousands of miles of underground and submarine cables and power transmission and distribution systems, as well as medium and low voltage cables for the construction and infrastructure sectors.

Tasked with redesigning the time tracking application used by Prysmian Group employees and managers. The problem definition stated that the target audience does tends to not use the current application and that the application needed to be updated. As a result, I made it a priority to identify the needs and wants of the users. I used both qualitative and quantitative methods to identify the pain points and motivational drivers.

Medgram

Gaming culture, or better said, pc gamers only think of health when others give verbal hint or remarks, such as ‘Hydration check’, which means: "Time to drink water!". This almost functions as an approach to real-time feedback without technology.

This happens not because they don’t care about their health enough by themselves but because they often get too immersed in their game. PC gamers can become forgetful due to the immersion. However, this is usually because the game or the people around them are entertaining. Addiction is sometimes a factor. They lose sight of themselves, and the majority of these pc gamers are unconcerned about their current and future health because they are physically fit, relatively happy, or simply don't care.

Meaningful Breaks.

The goal of Medgram is to provide pc gamers more self-awareness or enable self-actualization. As being immersed leads to not taking enough breaks, Medgram uses non-intrusive methods to motivate taking breaks, moving more, and eating.
